I enjoy reading fashion magazines. I watch the Emmy and Oscar awards shows  mainly so I can see how celebs are dressed. But in a state with a 12.4% unemployment rate, does shopping really need its own weekly newspaper column? Even worse, today’s Detroit Free Press has a full-page spread about the North American Auto Show Charity Preview. Tickets to the event, which benefits multiple charities, cost $250. Writer Georgea Kovanis tells readers which type of dress would best suit their figure. She weighs the pros and cons of short vs. long. Hosiery is advised against, as long as “you’ve exfoliated and moisturized.” Nothing offensive, just pointless. The obscenity that I object to is the photo of a pair of $895.00 shoes. How much do you need to spend to look good?
